The largest item in a student's budget is often not tuition but accommodation. Moreover, a poorly chosen room affects not only your money but also the time you devote to your studies and how you settle into the city. At Weroglobal Student, we see accommodation support as part of the admission process and start planning as soon as your acceptance letter arrives.

Getting to know the options

University dormitory

It is the most controlled start for the first year. It offers proximity to campus, an orderly environment and the chance to meet other international students. On the other hand, room types may be limited and reservations open within specific date ranges.

Shared student house

Suitable for those seeking a balance between personal space and cost. The kitchen and living room are shared; the choice of housemates and the terms of the contract should be considered carefully.

Homestay

Preferred especially by language school students and younger participants. Living with a local family provides daily language practice; many programmes offer breakfast or half-board options.

Private apartment or studio

The most independent but generally the most expensive option. Our partner sources emphasise that choosing a single-occupancy home can significantly increase the overall budget.

Sample prices from our sources

The figures below are monthly averages given in our partner sources; current amounts may change from period to period and differ by room type.

  • Russia: 40 – 100 USD is given for the dormitories of Saratov State University and Tomsk State University, 50 – 150 USD for Kazan Federal University and 120 – 300 USD for MGIMO in Moscow. For St. Petersburg State University, the dormitory fee for fee-paying students is listed as 3000 / 5500 roubles.
  • Poland: approximately 200 – 350 Euro per month in the dormitories of Poznan University of Technology.
  • Latvia: at Riga Technical University, a 200 Euro deposit is paid at the reservation stage and the minimum rental period is 5 months; the monthly fee varies by room type.
  • Germany: our sources give rent ranges by city; for example, €700 – €1,300 for Munich and €350 – €650 for Leipzig. This difference clearly shows the impact of the choice of city on the budget.
  • Language school cities: ranges of €500 – €900 per month for homestay accommodation in Malta and £500 – £1,000 per month for student residences in the UK are listed.

Common budgeting mistakes

  • Choosing a cheap room far from campus without accounting for transport costs and lost time
  • Not adding the deposit, first month's rent and furnishing costs to the initial budget
  • Underestimating regular expenses such as groceries, bills and social life
  • Leaving no margin at all for emergencies

What do we do in this service?

We follow the university's dormitory application timeline and help you complete the necessary forms and deposit steps on time. When dormitory places are full, we look into student house or homestay alternatives and read through with you the clauses you should pay attention to before signing contracts. As many countries also require proof of accommodation for the visa file, we make sure this document is ready at the right time.

Once your destination city and monthly budget are clear, you can contact us to compare your accommodation options one by one.
